Scarpa Launches New TX Pro Telemark Ski Boot
Once a thriving sector in the ski market with a host of brands competing to push gear design and the sport, telemark skiing has taken a back seat to the rise of and innovation around lightweight alpine touring gear. Telemark binding innovation has slowed to a crawl, and the telemark ski boot market has been running on status-quo design for at least a decade. However, Scarpa, a longtime leader in telemark ski boot innovation, announced an updated Scarpa TX Pro ski boot to launch this season. The new Scarpa TX Pro NTN boots ($849) drop significant weight (close to a pound per pair) and raise the bar for range of motion in an NTN-compatible boot. The new design reduces the TX Pro from 1,750 grams per boot (size 27) to 1,545 grams per boot. At 1,545 grams (3.4 pounds), the new TX Pro is close to the weight of the popular Scarpa Maestrale AT ski boots, which weigh in at 1,400 grams (3.08 pounds) and represent a reasonable weight standard for touring. Scarpa calls the new TX Pro “the most innovative, lightest-weight and efficient telemark boot ever created.”
While we haven’t had a chance to ski the new TX Pro yet, Voile has been in the tele game long enough to know what’s important in a tele boot. Check out what they have to say in this in-depth Scarpa TX Pro ski boot review.
