G3 Genuine Guide Gear Under New Ownership

G3 got its start with telemark bindings back in 1995. By 2010 G3 was a widely recognized player in the backcountry ski market with a product line including skins, shovels, probes, skis and alpine touring bindings.

News broke in August 2024 that G3 was facing insolvency and was forced to enter receivership and liquidate assets. By September 2024, the G3 website posted a message that all sales were on hold. Fast forward to mid-November, and it was just announced that G3 was acquired by Canadawide Sports, an employee-owned distributor of sports and outdoor equipment in Canada. Ontario-based Canadawide Sports Inc. is a large player in fitness and mass-market sports gear, distributing brands such as Adidas, Reebok, Prince, and Slazenger, to name just a few.

According to a press release from G3 and Canadawide, “This acquisition represents a new chapter for G3, with a focus on revitalizing the brand’s tradition of delivering high-performance gear for backcountry enthusiasts. … With its integration into the Canadawide Sports family, G3 will benefit from expanded resources and a renewed emphasis on product innovation, customer service, and community engagement—all while maintaining its commitment to the backcountry community.” The G3 website is back up and taking orders on current inventory with the headline: G3 is back online and ready for another lap!
