First Ski Movie of the Season
When the first ski mags arrived over a month ago, it was pushing 100 degrees and it did not feel right to sit and read about skiing, but we are pushing mid september now and I feel fall coming. To confirm that fall is indeed in the air, the first of the ski films have arrived in our mailbox. Last week we received two films, AK The Hard Way and Hand Cut. I had a chance to check out the first of the two to arrive, AK The Hard Way . . .
AK The Hard Way is the third film from Duane Kubischta of Adventure Filmworks. Last season he brought us Weather We Change , a film about skiing and the reality of climate change. Like his last film, AK The Hard Way documents the travels of three skiers, this time headed to Alaska. This is not your average ski porn, the skiers are not polished pros, and there is no helicopter time in their travels. The adventure takes several unexpected turns and offers a candid look at life on the road in pursuit of high angle dreams. With footage from Mt. Baker and Whistler to the Mountains above Haines, Alaska, AK The Hard Way is an unscripted window into the lives of three dedicated skiers in pursuit of turns and dreams.
Look for more details on Hand Cut from Sweetgrass Productions later this week. Here is the trailer for AK The Hard Way
